Outstanding Supporting Organization
This award is presented annually to a supporting organization that exemplifies the spirit of the RC&D by “Making Things Happen” in their area.
MA Farm Bureau
The Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation is a model of outstanding partnership for Pilgrim RC&D Council in New England. Over the past several years, the Federation and the RC&D Council have led an effort to help farming communities organize municipal agricultural commissions. These commissions have had a tremendous impact, strengthening the voice and visibility of agriculture at the grass roots level and supporting the growth of a sustainable agricultural industry that supplies healthy food to the people of Massachusetts. Commissions have passed important local regulations, educated local officials on farmers interests, protected farmland, and created farmers markets and local food guides -- all of which support family farms and local foods. Without the partnership between the Federation and the RC&D Council, those things could surely not have been achieved. (Dr Michael Bonanno, President acepted the award.)
