CHUCK McCARTY AWARD For the
Outstanding Coordinator
This award is presented annually to a Coordinator that has made an outstanding contribution toward his/her council and exemplifies the spirit of the RC&D by “Making Things Happen” in his/her RC&D area.
Elizabeth Rogers, Eastern Connecticut RC&D Council
A long-time employee of NRCS in Connecticut, Elizabeth chose to move from her position of District Conservationist to become an RC&D Coordinator because she clearly saw the unique ability of the RC&D Program to creatively address community needs. With her hand guiding Eastern Connecticut RC&D Council, it was transformed into an extremely productive organization that is a model for other nonprofits.
She has worked tirelessly with the diverse communities in her Council area, from dairy farmers to Hartford residents and everyone in between to develop trails, improve soil and water quality, support farmers markets, protect farmland, and so much more. She has become a leader who is sought out by other agencies and groups due to her effectiveness and her “can do” attitude. And she has been a great promoter of the RC&D Program – locally, regionally, and nationwide.
